How do you find the right hotel furniture in today's complicated market? Whether you are thinking of a renovation or building a new hotel, research is key because not all casegoods (hotel furniture) manufactures/suppliers are the same.    One of the first questions you should ask yourself is:    

How long has the company been in business?    

When you are research  guestroom furniture, you want to make sure that the company you are working with is solid. Especially, if you have any issues with the product after delivery and during the warranty period. The industry standard is 3 years for casegoods.    
What are you buying the furniture for?
Is this a new build or a renovation?    
How long do you want it to last?    

Is this part of a longer-term strategy? Are you renovating guestrooms to increase ADR? Are you planning to sell the property?    
How does the product stand up to moisture?    

This need to be strict quality stand with your supplier.    

Is the furniture built to withstand wear and tear from both the Guest and the Cleaning Staff?    

It's important to understand how the casegoods are manufactured. Not all manufacturers are the same. Here are some important things to consider before you purchase your new casegoods.    
What materials are used in construction?    
There are different ways to manufacture hotel furniture and this is often a differentiator. What materials are used in construction? Solid wood, plywood, particleboard, MDF or a combination?    
Obviously, solid wood is the most durable and will last the longest, but it is also the most expensive.    
Some manufacturers use a combination of particle board, plywood and enhance their product with solid wood tops and edges. This product is less expensive than solid wood but more than particleboard construction.    
Manufacturers who use 100% particleboard, this product does not stand the test of time and does not do well with humidity and will most likely only last 3 to 5 years at best and is much less expensive. 

What challenges has the organization faced and how did they deal with those challenges?    

Remember that a company's success is not a differentiator but a challenge and how the company dealt with that challenge is, and most important thing is was the client satisfied with the outcome.  
Is the organization financially sound? Is the company able to make it through tough economic times or a devastating blow?    
This question is meant to find out the financial stability of the organization as you want to make sure that once a company takes your money that they are capable to delivering your product.    
Are you able to ask for a bank reference? This would be important for a large order.     How does your company measure up from a customer service perspective?    
What is the response time to phone messages and emails? Does the company stand behind your product for: 3, 5 and even 8 years after delivery?    
 Where is the furniture manufactured? North America or Overseas? If their manufacturing facility is in China how will the tariffs affect the end price of the goods? Remember come April 1, 2019 tariffs on Chinese imported goods go up from 10% to 25%.
